The Benefits: Research Development Fellowship
The Research Development Fellowship offers various benefits to African researchers.
It assists those poised to be leaders, working tirelessly on addressing crucial challenges for human health, and aims to further nurture their research skills.
The fellowship includes a three to nine-month placement at a premier research institution in the UK, Europe, or Africa, with the possibility of additional support at your home institution.

Criteria: Who Can Apply?
To maintain the program’s high standards, we’re looking for early-career researchers with a clear focus on research activities.
This includes post-doctoral scientists and clinicians with higher qualifications who are nationals of and employed in Africa.
The Application Journey
Wondering about the timeline? We plan to inform all applicants about their application’s status by the end of March 2024.
Successful fellowships are projected to start between July 2024 and December 2024 at the latest.
To be considered, you must submit all application documents by 13:00 GMT, 14th September 2023.
How to Apply
Before commencing your application process, we recommend reading the Application Scheme Information and thoroughly reviewing the Guidance on Completing the Application Forms.
You’ll also need to download and complete the Application Form Parts B-F, to fill and upload onto the online application form.
Finally, you’ll need to download and complete the Application Form Part G – Signature Page, then submit it to the online application.
